About New Records Radar
New Records Radar publishes plain-English guides to free genealogy records in every U.S. state, plus a small Deal Watch for DNA kits and record subscriptions.
How the guides are made
- Each guide is written from scratch. Vital-records dates come from the CDC's "Where to Write for Vital Records" pages, archive listings from the National Archives, and newspaper partners from the Library of Congress. Every page lists its sources.
- We never copy collection lists or text from genealogy websites. We link to them with our own short descriptions.
- When sources disagree or a detail couldn't be confirmed, the page says so in a "check before relying on these" box.
- Each page shows when it was last checked. Offices, fees and web addresses change, so confirm with the office before ordering.

Affiliate disclosure
New Records Radar is free to use. Right now every outbound link goes to the official site with no affiliate tracking. In the future we may use affiliate links and clearly labelled sponsors to support the site. If you buy through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links will be disclosed, and they will never decide what goes in a guide.
